Josephine Slone (Slone) Martin

Josephine Slone Martin, age 94, of Wayland, KY, wife of the late Melvin Byron "Nick" Martin, passed away Monday, January 7, 2019 at the Knott County Health and Rehab Center, Hindman, KY.  She was born February 14, 1924 in Leburn, KY, a daughter of the late Garfield and Addie Dyer Slone.  She was a member of the Martin Branch Freewill Baptist Church, member of the Minnie DAVA and was a retired payroll clerk for Glo Glory Coal Company.

She is survived by two sons; Dr. Kenneth Ray (Sandra Carol Stumbo) Martin, Murfreesboro, TN, Denzil Byron (Beverly Allen) Martin, Wayland, KY, three daughters; Jennifer Lou Martin (Rondal Lee) Patton, Wayland, KY, Connie Jo (Silas) Martin, Litt Carr, KY, Myra Martin (Kevin) Henry, Minnie, KY, twelve grandchildren; Jamieken Martin, Scott Martin, Dr. Todd Martin, Rachel Crider, Lisa Martin, Rebecca Howell, Byron Patton, Nikki Crawford, Brittany Howard, Christopher Martin, Lauren Salyer and Dakota Hughes, 15 great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by two brothers; Charles Ray and Bennie Garfield Slone and one sister; Audrey Wiley.

Funeral service will be conducted Friday, January 11, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. in the Hall Funeral Home Chapel with Carl Wayne Watkins officiating.  Burial will follow in the Carl Perkins Cemetery, Leburn, KY, visitation is from 6 until 10 p.m. Wednesday and 5 until 10 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with service each evening at 7 p.m., under the professional and dignified care of the Hall Funeral Home, Martin, Kentucky.
