Joe Edd Hicks

Joe Edd Hicks, age 78, of David, KY, husband of Gypsy Goble Hicks, passed away Monday, January 13, 2020 at the VA Medical Center, Huntington, WV.  He was born February 3, 1941 in Blue River, KY, a son of the late Henry and Bertha Hale Hicks.  He was a US Army Veteran and a retired coal miner.

In addition to his wife: Gypsy, he is survived by one son; Joe Hicks Jr.,  David, KY, one daughter; Michelle (Bill) Baker, Paintsville, KY, one brother; Lewis (Mary) Hicks, Clay City, KY, four sisters; Peggy Newsome, Blue River, KY, Emmalene (Jerry) Ackerman, Winchester, KY, Ruby (Larry) Slone, and Mary Alice Hicks, all of Prestonsburg, KY, two grandsons; Nicholas and Aaron Baker.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother; Sam Hicks and one sister; Gloria D. Hicks.

Funeral service will be conducted Friday, January 17, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in the Hall Funeral Home Chapel with Malcolm Slone officiating.  Burial will follow in the Goble Cemetery, Cow Creek, Prestonsburg, KY, visitation is from 12 until 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, under the professional and dignified care of the Hall Funeral Home, Martin, Kentucky.
