Harry "Sonny" Irick, age 89, husband of Phyllis May Irick, and the late Darnell Edmonds Irick, passed away on Thursday, November 21, 2019 in the Pikeville Medical Center, Pikeville, KY. He was born February 28, 1930 in Pikeville, KY, a son of the late Grover Cleveland and Mary Hall Irick. He was a member of the Betsy Layne Church of Christ, a US Army Korean War Veteran of the 101st airborne division, Superintendent of the Sandy Valley Water District and employed over 10 years at the First Commonwealth Bank.
He is survived by, one daughter: Debbie (Mike) Hoskins, Stanville, KY, two sons; Harry Dean (Darlene) Irick, Betsy Layne, KY, James Gary "Jim" (Jeff Fambrough) Irick, Metropolis, IL; two step daughters: Pam Ratliff and Monica Charles; eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven brothers: Taylor, Abb, Van, Clyde, Woodrow, Newton and Albert Irick, five sisters; Jane Denham, Reeley Clark, Rachel Clark, Audrey Parsons and Marion Conn, two great grandchildren; Lilly May Hoskins and Kainin Gabriel Hoskins and his first wife and mother of his children; Darnell Edmonds Irick.
Funeral service will be conducted for "Sonny" Irick on Sunday, November 24 at 2:00 pm at the Betsy Layne Church of Christ, Betsy Layne, KY with Tommy Spears and Bob Harper officiating. Burial will follow in the Bush Cemetery, Harold, KY. Visitation is 3-10 PM Saturday at Hall Funeral Home, Martin, KY.
