Freeda Aileen Akers Tackett, of Eastern, KY, widow of Dr. Roger L. Tackett, passed away September 20, 2019 at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, KY. She was born March 26, 1940 in a coal mining camp Ligon, KY, the second child of the late Noah and Lizzie Akers.
She attended McDowell High School where she graduated in 1958. A graduate of Morehead State University, she taught school at McDowell High School for 10 years.
She attended the Church of God of Prophecy in Prestonsburg, KY.
She is survived by two sons, Roger Dean Tackett and Kristopher Beau Tackett; brother, Noah Carson Akers and sister, Margie Akers Gore; and two grandchildren, Anthony Tyler Tackett and Danny Lee Tackett.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she is preceded in death by one son, Anthony Lee Tackett; one brother, Vernon Akers; and three sisters, Nora Jane McCoy, Marilyn Moore Wills, and Carolyn Wright.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, KY with burial to follow in the Davidson Memorial Gardens, Ivel, KY. Visitation is Monday, 6-9pm and Tuesday, 1-9pm, under the professional and dignified care of the Hall Funeral Home, Martin, Kentucky.
