Bertha (Shepherd) Prater

Bertha Shepherd Prater, age 89, of Inez, KY, formerly of Floyd County, widow of Kenneth Earl Prater, passed away Saturday, May 19, 2018 at her residence.  She was born December 11, 1928 in David, KY a daughter of the late Lewis Wedstel and Susann Watson Shepherd.  She was a member of the Landmark Christian-Full Gospel Church, Prestonsburg, KY and a homemaker.

She is survived by one son; Kenneth E. (Sadie) Prater Jr., David, KY, two daughters; Susan (Billy) Reffett, David, KY and Connie (Ted McGinnis) Prater, Inez, KY, three grandchildren; Tammy Shepherd, Oakie Dwayne Reffett and Stephanie Prater Blevins, seven great grandchildren; Hillary Slone, Haley Slone, Shelby Reffett, Hannah Reffett, Tucker Reffett, Kynah Prater and Phylicity Blevins and one great-great grandchild; Chandler Reffett.

In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by six brothers; Mortie, Richard, Columbus, Oakie, Gordon and Nero Shepherd, four sisters; Mae Meese, Orphie Shepherd, Rosanne Williams and June Shepherd.

Funeral service will be conducted Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Hall Funeral Home Chapel with Phillip Meade and Wedstel Shepherd officiating.  Burial will follow in the Gethsemane Gardens, Prestonsburg, KY, visitation is after 6 p.m. Sunday and all day Monday at the funeral home, under the professional and dignified care of the Hall Funeral Home, Martin, Kentucky.
