Arnitha (Howell) Spencer

Arnitha Howell Spencer, age 84, of Martin, KY, widow of the late Hewen Shaler Spencer, passed away on December 9, 2017, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on January 28, 1933 in Dony, Kentucky a daughter to the late Pearlie Howell and Chloie Caudill. She was a homemaker, a clerk for various businesses, and was owner of the Factory Outlet Shoe Store, Prestonsburg, KY for many years, as well as a member of the First Assembly of God Church, Martin, KY.

She is survived by three sons: James H. “Jim” (Donna) Spencer, Martin, KY, Anthony R. (Leann) Spencer, Hilliard, OH, and Phillip D. (Debbie) Spencer, Langley, KY, three daughters; Pamela K. (Meredith) Combs, Martin, KY, Chanda S. (Greg) Blair, Paintsville, KY, and Vicki R. (Chad) Hart, Martin, KY. Arnitha is also survived by one sister, Buena L. (Virgil - deceased) Bentley, Marysville, OH. In addition to her children and sister, she is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.

In addition to her husband, and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, James Arthur Howell, and Rufford Howell; and four sisters, Ruth (Silas) Jones, Roberta (Millard) Setser, Irene (James) Horn, and Helen J. (Ed) Reynolds. Her paternal grandparents, John David Howell, and Martha Osborne, and her maternal grandparents, James Jackson Caudill, and Sally McCurry.

Pallbearers are: Tony Spencer II, Brandon Spencer, Shaler Spencer, Meredith Combs, Greg Blair, Desmond Spencer, Will Isom, Chris Spencer, Tyler Holbrook, Heath Dingus, Caiden Combs, Jordan Bailey and Bill Cooper.

Funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at 11 a.m. in the Hall Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Davidson Memorial Gardens, Ivel, KY, visitation is after 6 p.m. Monday and all day Tuesday at the funeral home.
